Pulpotomy

A pulpotomy helps save a baby tooth affected by deep decay, preventing infection and maintaining its role in chewing, speech, and proper spacing for adult teeth.

What Is a Pulpotomy?

During a pulpotomy, the irritated part of the tooth’s nerve is removed while the remaining healthy tissue is sealed. A crown is then placed to protect the tooth.

What Parents Can Expect

We numb the area gently, remove the affected tissue, medicate and seal the tooth, and place a protective crown. Children typically feel relief after treatment because the source of discomfort is removed.

Why It Matters

  • Preserves important baby teeth
  • Maintains proper spacing for adult teeth
  • Prevents infection and pain
  • Supports normal chewing and speech development

Comfort & Care

We work carefully at your child’s pace, provide reassurance throughout, and ensure a smooth recovery after treatment.

What Constitutes a Dental Emergency?

Most dental emergencies fall into one of three main categories:

  1. Health
  2. Function
  3. Aesthetics

Are you unable to eat, or do you have a chipped front tooth that’s too embarrassing to face work or school? If so, you need an emergency dentist who can see you as soon as possible, ideally the same day.

Some of the most common dental emergencies we treat include sharp or broken teeth, gum swelling, pain, and hypersensitivity. Other frequent issues include soft tissue lesions, such as ulcers under dentures, abscessed teeth, and traumatic injuries. Our team is here to provide prompt and compassionate care when you need it most.
